Description
Conversion of two traditional agricultural barns into high-quality four-bedroom dwellings
This project involved a three stage strategic Planning and Architectural design process to achieve the conversion of two traditional agricultural barns into high-quality four-bedroom dwellings. Class Q prior approval was sought in 2023 followed by a Pre-Application and subsequent full Planning Application.
Set within a rural context, the design carefully balances contemporary living standards with the retention of the agricultural character of the buildings. The proposal aligns with national and local planning policies by promoting the reuse of existing structures while minimising visual and landscape impacts. With limited neighbouring amenity concerns, compliance with space and building standards, and integrated environmental considerations, the scheme represents a thoughtful and sustainable approach to countryside development and breathes new life into the once neglected and unused agricultural buildings.
The proposals were granted planning permission in 2025.
