Description
New temple and community hall
In July 2023, Planit successfully secured planning permission for a new temple and community hall in Tattenhoe, Milton Keynes, on behalf of the Shri Shirdi Saibaba Temple Association of London (SHITAL). The approved scheme integrates both spiritual and community functions. Beyond worship, the hub is designed to host vital charitable activities, including food provision, free educational support, and broader community engagement initiatives.
This success followed the resubmission of a 2021 application. Although originally recommended for approval by planning officers and technical experts, that initial bid was rejected by the planning committee. The primary roadblocks were concerns over residential amenity and local highway safety, specifically how the scale of attendance, range of activities, and subsequent traffic generation would impact nearby residents and road operations.
To overcome these hurdles, the resubmitted application included a comprehensive highways statement proving local roads could safely accommodate the traffic. Because the project met all design, ecological, and urban policy standards, the Planning Committee accepted the updated arguments and granted official permission. Works are currently underway to discharge the remaining planning conditions and begin construction on the new building.
