Project name
The Cranley Hotel
Location
Cranleigh
Description
Conversion and extension of former public house to 9 apartments
Planning permission was granted on 22 October 2024 to convert the Cranley Hotel into nine residential units, including extensions and alterations to the existing building. The approved plans include a two-storey extension, two first-floor extensions, and two new dormer windows. Seventeen parking spaces will also be provided, with site access remaining from the eastern corner.
The council considered the design to be sensitive to the character of the locally listed building and its setting within the Cranleigh Conservation Area. Officers accepted evidence showing the pub had been unsuccessfully marketed for six months and concluded the proposal complied with planning policies. The scheme was approved by Waverley Borough Council subject to five planning conditions.
